Transmission Repairs
helping you get back on the road
It has the mission of getting the engine turn to the driving wheels.
With this system, it is also possible to vary the transmission ratio between the crankshaft and the wheels. This relationship changes depending on the circumstances of the moment.
Depending on how the transmission ratio intervenes, the output shaft of the gearbox can turn at the same speed, more or less than the crankshaft.

There are several types of transmissions:
Manual
The mechanical transmission is the only one that requires a clutch. This type of transmission can have up to seven speeds for automobiles. It is composed of gears of different sizes placed in such a way that when the gear lever is moved, the gear to be activated is being selected, which means that in order for one gear to move to another, they must first be coupled; This coupling is called speed change. It is an element of sports cars, where the driver can fully exploit the performance of the vehicle.
Automated or sequential
This is just like the manual gearbox, but with an electromechanical device that activates the clutch and makes the gear changes happen automatically. The gear change response time varies with the technology used. Vehicles equipped with this type of transmission can have up to 16 speeds, which can also translate into higher performance and lower cost.
Automatic
This is the type of transmission that many consumers prefer, as it offers greater driving comfort. Here the driver does not need to intervene for anything other than changing the direction of travel or parking. Both the clutch and the gears operate completely autonomously. The device uses a torque converter to transfer the power from the motor to the wheels, and an electronic system of hydraulic drives to the gears, when they are connected.
CVT
CVT transmission is another type of automatic transmission; it does not use gears on an axle, but a steel belt and two pulleys, which alter its diameter. Therefore, the device provides a continuously variable speed, making the gears infinite. This transmission is widely used in hybrids, where its economy collaborates with the limited autonomy of the batteries.
Automated double clutch
This gearbox appears to be similar to a manual transmission, but this gearbox has two axles instead of one. It is two gearboxes within a single housing. When one is moving the car in a speed, the other has prepared the next. In this way, the driver, when selecting a relation, simply disengages a gearbox and engages the corresponding one, thus reducing the response time. It is usually faster than a manual transmission. This transmission is completely controlled by the computer, and it allows several driving modes, as well as other changes with electronic assistance.
The transmission is a vital part of the well functioning of your vehicle. At Romita Automotive we have a group of professionals with years of experience and the best equipment, tools, and anything you may need to fix, correct, maintain or check your transmission.
Transmission problems usually cause grinding noises, gear slipping, hard shifting, warning lights and other serious interruptions to your driving. The best way to prevent costly transmission repairs is to keep your transmission fluid clean. Only the recommended type will ensure your transmission performs correctly. If you’ve had the original transmission changed you should use the recommended fluid for that particular transmission.
